This past weekend the 17u Royals team had a great game against Empire State Blue Flames at the Live At The Nook tournament at Spooky Nook. Kaia Henderson and Lily Kennedy brought the hustle and strong defense as they both had many steals and tips which led to offensive opportunities throughout the game. Lily Kennedy (5’10 guard from Pittsford Mendon) had creative drives to the basket and was able to finish and draw fouls against the defense. Adrien LaMora hustled the whole game and rebounded with energy to get more opportunities. The entire team contributed which led to the 26-15 lead at halftime. Anaya Coleman continued the strong effort after halftime by starting out with a three which was followed by a fast break layup from Kaia Henderson. Teagan Kamm (6’1 forward) battled for rebounds and was on the floor after loose balls. The guards recognized mismatches and fed post players. The Royals did well against the strong man and zone defense that were thrown at them throughout the game and had great ball movement which created openings for all five players on the court. The strong effort from the whole team in both halves led to a 41-24 win over a very talented AAU team.
