Royals 17u First Half of July Live Period

The Royals 17u team had a great start to their July Live Period in Morrisville, Pennsylvania where they finished with 3 wins and 1 loss.

The team then headed to Atlantic City for the HGSL Championships where they played 5 very competitive games.

Anaya Coleman, 2022, started out her final live period strong with an impressive first two tournaments. She was able to get to the rim and finish well with her crafty drives and she hit some timely 3’s throughout both tournaments.

Kaia Henderson handled the ball very confidently and was able to get past her defenders and finish at the rim. She had multiple assists in many games and was a key contributor on the offensive end with her shot selection which created team momentum and turned the games around.

Lily Kennedy brought defensive intensity to the team specifically in a game against Lightning where she locked up one of their top scorers. She also hit some key 3’s against NEPA to start her team on a run.

Margaret Dougher shot very well in both tournaments by knocking down open 3s and hitting 3s coming off of screens. Dani Strauf joined the Royals team for the HGSL Championships in Atlantic City where she came off the bench very strong in each game. She brought energy on defense and forced turnovers which led to offensive opportunities for herself and her teammates.

Adrien LaMora brought the hustle to the team as she battled for rebounds and went after loose balls. She had many creative and strong moves in the paint and outside of the paint which made her hard to guard and she saw the floor well as she had great passes to guards cutting under the basket.

Mackenzie Higby played in her first tournament back in Morrisville, Pennsylvania after recovering from a torn ACL. She contributed to a 67-27 win where she hit a 3 and a mid-range shot coming from a timeout.

Teagan Kamm, who recently committed to Assumption University, and Bridget Miller are two strong post players who battled for rebounds in both tournaments. Bridget had strong post moves and was able to finish well and Teagan hit foul line jump shots and ran the floor well. Bella Doyle is another post player who brought her energy from off the court on the court which boosted the energy of her teammates. She hit some important mid-range jumpers.

This 17u team is able to compete at a high level with their fast paced style of play and they will continue to do so in their last two tournaments at Spooky Nook.
